Pre-treatment guidelines | Chemical Peels

  • Schedule your appointment at least two weeks before a special event. Redness, peeling, and dryness may be apparent in that time period.

  • You’ll need to avoid Accutane for six months prior to treatment.

  • You’ll need to avoid IPL/BBL photofacials, laser treatments, and waxing two weeks prior to treatment.

  • Discontinue topical retinoids one week before treatment.

  • Let your provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.

  • You may not have an active rash or infection in the area being treated.

  • You may not be pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • To set proper expectations, the treatment and peel process should be discussed in full prior to treatment.

Post-treatment guidelines | Chemical Peels

  • Redness or sensitivity might be present and can last up to a few days.

  • Peeling may start 1-3 days after treatment.

  • Don’t pick or scratch at treated skin. Use clean eyebrow scissors to trim peeling skin if needed.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 24 hours after treatment. Keep exercise light until peeling ends.

  • Avoid makeup until peeling ends and skin has healed. Use 100% Mineral Tinted SPF to camouflage if needed.

  • Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

  • If exposed to the sun, use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and reapply every two hours.

  • Wear sun-protective hats.

  • Results are most noticeable after multiple treatments. A series of 4-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is recommended for best results.
